Comic Fiesta 2014 Malaysia's Biggest ACG Event Just Got Better

Comic Fiesta 2014

Just recently attended Comic Fiesta – it’s one of Malaysia’s largest and longest standing ACG event which is packed with stage events, cosplay, doujin, anime, games and more. This post contains some of the photos which I’ve taken over the two day event period at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

By the way, it’s 31 December as I’m writing this post so just saying Happy New Year everyone! I have been busy with video game development projects over the past year and will continue to work on more games for 2015 – I’m just glad to be able to take part in the creative process of making fun video games for everyone to enjoy ^^

Photo taken near the entrance of the exhibition hall. It’s HUGE and jam-packed with booths showcasing anime, comic, games related content. I’m not entirely sure of this year’s visitor count but it’s crowded enough to make me feel like I was squashed like a sardine ><

I was able to meet up with a lot of great artists and game developers over the two days at Comic Fiesta. It seems to me that the amount of foreigners who came to visit the event has increased as compared to the previous years. For example, there’s Skwan from Studio Hive in Thailand who used to work on Square-Enix’s Front Mission Evolved, Alchemaniac & Daiyaku from Singapore, Caravan Studio from Indonesia and the list goes on.

I have a feeling that I would be working with some of these folks for future game development projects.

This year’s Comic Fiesta official artwork is done by Alchemaniac. I first saw his artwork a few months ago where he did the box art illustration for the “Chasm” video game by Discord Games. Gotta love that art style.

League of Legends seems to be a rather popular game across all regions. Here we have some LoL tournaments going on at Comic Fiesta.

When I say I was squashed like a sardine I really mean it – I was constantly pushed by the crowds when I was walking around in the halls ^^;

Nice cosplay – though I’m not sure which game/anime series this character belongs to.

Bandai booth promoting the Gundam Duel Company trading card game. Speaking of Gundam, I have not been blogging on gundam or building a gunpla for ages. It’s not like I lost interest in it – it’s just that my priority is now all about games development ><

but I still think that the Earth Federation uniform looks cute on girls ^^;

An Armageddon gaming mouse on display here. The last gaming mouse I owned was the Razer Diamondback – it was a great gaming mouse that lasted for 6-7 years of heavy usage.

KDU College is back again in Comic Fiesta this year to showcase some of their students’ game project. I managed to find some time to try out most of their games and gave some critical feedback so that they could improve their game. It is just wonderful to see more aspiring local folks getting into the game development scene.

Correct me if I’m wrong – I think this guy is cosplaying as Death Gun from the recent Sword Art Online Season 2 anime, have not watch it since lots of folks are saying it wasn’t as good as the first season.

Nice Jaeger Pacific Rim cosplay – am still waiting for the sequel movie!
