Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro visited Japan’s Odaiba along with Pacific Rim actresses Rinko Kikuchi (Mako Mori) and Mana Ashida (Young Mako). In a Japanese TV program he talks about the mecha that inspired designs in Pacific Rim and sees the life-size Gundam statue for the first time. You can see the video of his tour at Odaiba here:

- The Japanese posters for Pacific Rim’s release in Japan was drawn by Blood: The Last Vampire illustrator Katsuya Terada and Yoji Shinkawa of Metal Gear.
- Japan’s creators have praised the film, including Metal Gear Solid’s Hideo Kojima, manga and anime pioneer Go Nagai, and Evangelion character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto.
